Lorraine Nubar

Voice teacher Lorraine Nubar has been a Pre-College faculty member since 1978. Born in Detroit, Mich., and raised in California, she was the first American voice teacher on the voice faculty at the Conservatoire Nationale Superieure de Musique in Paris, where she prepared singers for the Paris Opera and Lyon Opera. She has taught master classes at Acantos, Foundation Royaumont, and the Summer Center at the Centre International de Formation Musicale in Nice. Her articles have been published in Opera News. Nubar has served as an adjudicator for the Young Concert Artists Annual Competition, Paris Concours, and Marseille Concours. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Juilliard, where she was a pupil of and teaching assistant to Jennie Tourel. Nubar also studied and taught at the Aspen Music Festival. She studied privately in the U.S. with William Vennard, Daniel Ferro, Martial Singher, and Frank Corsaro. She studied in Europe with Gerard Souzay, Elly Ameling, Jeanine Reiss, and Dalton Baldwin.
